30 Day Blog - Day 1
1. I’m the oldest child in my family which may explain some of by bossy tendencies.
2. I’d rather sew – especially quilts but I enjoy other creative types of sewing - than cook dinner.
3. I love flowers!! Probably more to come on that subject.
4. I have traveled to places I never would have thought I would go.
5. I enjoy looking at all the different architecture of the places I visit even though I don’t know all the technical terms for what I am seeing.
6. I learned to love listening to audio books when I was a teenager and my family was able to get “books” from the Center for the Blind.
7. I love watching football games and the Olympics. Otherwise, I rarely watch any sporting events.
8. I hate taking care of things that might cause people pain – like removing slivers, pulling out wiggly teeth, cleaning out wounds, etc. Good thing I have a wonderful sister-in-law who takes care of my kids for me.
9. When I grow up, I want to be like my Grandma Merrill. She was an amazing woman. She was very patient, loving and talented.
10. I have an incredible husband who is always encouraging me to learn new things.
11. I live in an old home that I love even though it has very limited closet space and a roof that always leaks.
12. I like to decorate for every holiday and season. It’s always nice to have something new to look at.
13. I have tried several times to learn to knit and have yet to even make a washcloth.
14. I have always had bad eyes (got my first pair of glasses in 1st grade and had to have the lenses changed every 6 months till I finally got contact lenses at the end of 4th grade) and bad teeth (I think the most cavities I had in one check-up was fourteen.)
15. I have amazing children, at least they amaze me. They are so smart and talented. I need them to all live close to me so that they can keep teaching me.

Hatch/Hunt Family Christmas Party
Last Friday, we held our annual family Christmas party. The date and place had been chosen for a couple of months but as the date got closer it became more challenging to figure out what should be done. The week before the party, Dad ended up in the hospital again with a bad infection in the leg where his vein had been harvested. They thought he would be in for a day or two and ended up not getting out till Thursday. We had been hoping that even though he may not be able to come to the whole party, we were hoping he could come for a little bit. The week of party, we had to decide whether to postpone the party or hold it without dad. It was decided that we should go ahead.
