We haven't had any major life events the last couple of month, which is good but there have been plenty of small and fun things to keep life interesting.
On April 30th we celebrated Konningendag. Dennis invited everyone with any connection to Holland, whether they grew up there, lived there for a brief period of time or even have visited. Dennis worked for weeks on preparing and perfecting special Dutch foods, like vla and kroketten, and sate sauce. We had about 30 people come, including some that we had never met before. It was a fun party.
On May 1-2, I went to Salt Lake with four of my good friends. We went shopping, out to eat, and played games and just had a great time. We came home with my van completely loaded with our treasures we had found.

Temple Square is so beautiful this time of year |
On May 14th, we got to be involved with a surprise birthday party for Michelle. Dave, Nate and Kristie did most of the work for it, but we had it in our backyard. Michelle was truly surprised. They had gone out to dinner and then were doing a Iron Rod family home evening activity. Several of the family, including Michelle, when they brought her into the back yard. She didn't even know that she was close to home till she took off her blindfold and saw where she was and all the people there. It was really fun. I got to help Dave pick out her birthday present so we were really excited to have her open it. She got a new Bernina sewing machine.

I have had a great time the last couple of weeks, going around to all the nursery's and choosing flowers and plants for our yard this season. I decided to try to get to some of the nursery's in the valley that I haven't been to before so I got quite a few checked off my list. I've gotten a bunch of the pots planted but have lots of perennials, shrubs and evergreens to plant.

the snowball bush and bleeding hearts are really loaded this year |
On the not so fun side, my knee is still continuing to have problems (surgery was in October). I have gone in to have it drained and injected three times now. It always feels better and works properly for at least a month after they do it but then it swells up again and it becomes hard for me to get around very easily. If all goes well, I will start getting a new kind of injection starting the end of next month. Hopefully that will take care of it!

So fun. The yard is looking nice. And I can tell you're not at all excited about Michelle's new sewing machine! :)
You always manage to stay busy! Your yard looks beautiful! I didn't know you were friends with Lori Rindlishacher- I got to know her a little when working in the primary! Miss you! So glad to see so many good things happening in your family!
Love,
Callie
