Briscoe Family Reunion 2013

The last weekend in August was the Briscoe Reunion. It was Grandpa Briscoe's 80th birthday on Friday so most of the reunion was a celebration of his life. Michelle was the organizer this year and she did a great job.

Friday night we had dinner and games in our back yard. Dad won the free throw contest with 8 of 10. We also played the paper sack game. Grandpa and Grandma even played and did well the first round.

When the sack got down to a flat piece on the ground there were still quite a few people in the game.  It came down to who could eat the last little piece.  Bonnie, Kristie, Mandy, Trevor, Alyna, Sam, Zeke, Kimmy and Dane were all the winners. It sure brought back memories of the creative forms that people came up with over the years.

On Saturday, we went over to Bear Lake. It was still a little cool when we got there at noon but eventually it warmed up enough to get most people out in the water. The kids had fun with the tubes and our float island.

In the evening we all met at our church and had a potato bar dinner and then a program. Michelle, Bonnie and I had spent many hours Friday and Saturday hanging the family quilts. It turned our cultural hall into an art gallery. Everyone spent time walking around, finding the blocks they had done for each quilt. We've had some really great themed quilts. Some of my favorites were Bonnie's favorite hymn's, Liz' favorite vacation location, Oscar's Far Side and Jeran's Calvin and Hobbes. Annie's was one of the last quilts done and it has the best artistic talent and most vibrant colors. We've all learned a lot through the years and the markers and crayons have improved dramatically.
